A screen emits light. Paint reflects it. The preview helps you explore combinations, but the actual pigments, paint base, surface and lighting decide how a dry finish looks.

Use compatible paint products only and follow their manufacturer's mixing and application guidance. Do not treat the quantities here as a tinting-machine recipe or mix different paint chemistries on the strength of a screen preview.

Make a small labelled sample, let it dry for the product's stated time, and compare it in the room at different times of day. Keep the actual paint identifiers and your measured quantities with it.

Useful mixing questions

Is this an RGB average?

No. The preview uses Spectral.js, a paint-like model based on absorption and scattering, to approximate a mix from your screen colours. It cannot know the pigments or tinting strength in a real tin of paint.

What does the ratio calculate?

Each quantity is the sample volume multiplied by that colour's parts divided by the total parts. For example, 2 parts A and 1 part B in a 150 ml sample gives 100 ml A and 50 ml B. This is volume arithmetic, not a prediction of paint compatibility or coverage.

Can I match a branded paint colour?

A hex code does not identify a paint formulation. Use a physical swatch and the paint manufacturer's matching service for an actual product match.

Where are saved swatches stored?

Only in this browser's local storage, after you press Save. There is no account or upload. Private browsing, clearing site data or a different device may not retain them. Download a study if you want a separate copy.
